Team sunshine.co.uk takes to the BTCC grid

December 31st, 2008

Once again sunshine.co.uk is taking to the grid of the prestigious British Touring Car Championship. In 2009 we will be racing a two-car team, using the ex-eurotech Honda Integras of Micheal and Andrew Jordan, the cars will be prepared and run by leading independent race team Techspeed.

Once again Martyn Bell will be carrying the sunshine.co.uk ‘flag’ as he takes to the drivers seat for his fourth season in BTCC. Martyn is looking to build on the success he had last year having gone from a rear wheel drive BMW into the ex-works Vauxhall Astra.

This year Martyn will be joined by a team mate, ex vauxhall works driver Paul O’Neill. Paul - a proven BTCC winner, hasn’t raced a full season since 2003, when he was diagnosed with diabetes.

With ITV no longer covering F1, the BTCC coverage should be immense. 2008 saw over four hours of live coverage on ITV4 on each Sunday race day.

The full ‘official’ press release can be read on Martyn’s website. Here’s to 2009 and the British Touring Car Championship.

Excellent news for sunshine.co.uk and Martyn. Is the second driver Jason Plato or Damon Hill?

Thats wicked. I have an Integra DC5, the car that has won the BTCC twice :)
Look forward to seeing it on track!

Cool news! Nice to see Martyn getting newer technology on the grid.

Good luck to the Team. I know some Malvern Touring Boys who will be happy to hear this news.

This is good news indeed - Paul O’Neill will be a valuable asset and just what Martyn needs to get the best out of him. The cars were still able to race at the front of the field last season and achieve a couple of podium finishes so it’s looking good for team sunshine.co.uk in 2009!

Great news, just keep Martyn out of Harry Karrs ! Lets hope they will both get some good tv exposure, as they should be a bit further up the field.
