How does a Nun stir tea?
So how does a Nun stir tea? Personally I have no idea and nor does someone else by the look of it as this question, among a few strange others, was in the referrers for the blog post I wrote in September about the perfect cup of tea. I have yet to find the answer, maybe someone else knows?
Another was asking “Should you squeeze the tea bag?”. Now personally it depends on how long the tea bag has been left to stand in the mug ‘brewing’ If it’s only been in there a couple of minutes then yes, but don’t squeeze the living crap out of it, otherwise it will taste bitter and horrible. Now, if you have accidentally left the tea standing for more than a few minutes with the tea bag in, then I avoid squeezing the bag. I just lift it out and then stir the tea. If it still looks over-stewed, then you might be just aswel making a new one.
A favourite of mine today which backs up my earlier post is “Why is tea darker if you put the milk in after the tea bag?”. Answer – the tea has been burnt by the boiling hot water and without the pre-added milk to protect it you have a cup of burnt brown yucky tea. That’s the honest scientific reason. I have not made that up!
On the subject of how long to leave the tea bag in I had “How long to leave tea bag in hot water?”. Well, if you do insist on putting the milk in last then I suggest no more than 1-2 minutes if the water is boiling hot. If you are adding the milk before the water then you will need 2-3 minutes maybe a minute or two more if you like it stronger.
The last one I am going to bring up has hit my target keywords right on the money. “The correct way to make a cup of tea“. I am not going to preach but Tea Bag, Milk, Hot Water – in that order

Lol – you avoid squeezing the bag….say no more….
Your a wrongun Jon Ashworth, just wrong.
